Does Scaena track my personal data?

No. Scaena is built on a 100% local database model using Apple's secure Core Data container. Your settings and API keys sync exclusively via your personal Apple iCloud Key-Value store. No external servers or third-party tracking databases collect your personal data.

What languages does Scaena support?

Scaena is fully localized into 22 global languages: English, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), Japanese, French, German, Portuguese (Portugal & Brazil), Italian, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Hindi, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Polish. Scaena features a native "Hide Episode Spoilers" toggle. When enabled, episode descriptions are hidden behind a spoiler alert, and specific episode thumbnails are replaced with general season posters until you mark the episode as watched.

How do I sync my watchlist with Simkl?

Simply navigate to settings inside the app and authorize your Simkl account. Scaena's background SyncManager executes all API calls and database commits asynchronously on dedicated threads, ensuring your watchlists, ratings, and history remain perfectly in sync without ever causing frame rate drops.

How does Rewatch Tracking work with Simkl?

Scaena Pro allows you to log multiple rewatches for your favorite TV shows and movies without overwriting or losing your original watch history. You can track rewatch episode progress per session and sync seamlessly with Simkl Pro & VIP accounts.

Can I customize the layout of TV Show and Movie detail pages?

Yes! Under Settings → Appearance → TV Show & Movie Pages, you can use native drag-and-drop handles to reorder sections (Show/Movie Info, Overview, List Status, My Rating, Cast, and Seasons) to suit your workflow across the entire app.

Can I choose which web browser opens external links?

Yes. Under Settings → General → Link Handling, you can select between the In-App Safari browser, your device's Default Browser, or "Always Ask" to choose dynamically from browsers installed on your device (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge, DuckDuckGo, etc.).

How do I change the App Icon or visual theme?

Navigate to Settings → Appearance. Scaena Pro unlocks alternate App Icons (System, Light, and Dark), 9 curated visual themes (such as Dark Grey, Dark Blue, Arctic Night, Dark Cocoa, and Plum), custom accent color pickers, and high-density Compact Cards layouts.

What metadata services does Scaena use?

Scaena fetches show schedules, user lists, and poster art from Simkl, and high-resolution episode backdrops from TheTVDB (TVDB). All metadata lookups are handled automatically using secure, integrated developer access keys.

1. Overview

Scaena is designed with user privacy in mind. We do not run any remote user tracking, analytics, or profiling servers. Your data belongs entirely to you.

2. Information We Process

We process credentials and metadata necessary to run the service:

  • Simkl API Credentials: Securely stored on-device in local Keychain or Core Data storage.
  • Media Watchlist & Rating Data: Retrieved and cached locally to display watchlists, release calendars, and recommendations.
  • Recommendations & Discovery: Title recommendations are retrieved via standard Simkl API requests using your client key or personal account token when authenticated.
  • App Store Purchases: Verification details are processed securely by Apple. Scaena does not collect or store your payment details.
  • System logs: Transient error logs kept locally for diagnostics.

3. Storage and Syncing

Your watchlist, lists, and settings are stored locally on your device. We utilize Apple iCloud Synchronization to securely backup and sync your settings across your own iOS/macOS devices. We do not have access to your iCloud container or your personal data.

4. Third-Party API Data Sharing

To synchronize your media watch history and deliver personalized show, movie, and anime recommendations, Scaena communicates directly with the Simkl API. When requesting artwork and metadata, the app communicates with Simkl and TheTVDB. Any information shared with these services is governed strictly by their respective privacy policies.

5. Security

We use industry-standard security protocols to transmit data over secure HTTPS connections. Your access token is kept in secure local storage or Keychain services.

6. Your Choices & Deletion

You can disconnect your Simkl account at any time via the Settings menu, which immediately deletes Simkl tokens and credentials stored inside the application database. Since all other data resides in iCloud, deleting the app will remove local storage caches.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Scaena, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Apple EULA). If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the application.

2. Description of Service

Scaena is a media tracking application that allows users to organize their watchlist, monitor release and air dates, browse show, movie, and anime recommendations, track episode rewatches, and synchronize watch history and lists with third-party service Simkl. The app is provided on an 'as-is' and 'as-available' basis.

3. Subscriptions and Scaena Pro

Scaena offers premium features (collectively called "Scaena Pro")—including unlimited watchlist items, custom per-title notification schedules, seamless Simkl watch history & rewatch synchronization, Home Screen widgets, HD episode backdrops, custom layouts and color themes, detail module reordering, and custom app icons—through auto-renewing subscriptions (Monthly, Yearly) and a Lifetime Non-Consumable Purchase.

Auto-Renewing Subscription Terms:

  • Payment will be charged to your Apple ID Account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off or canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of the selected plan.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscriptions at any time by going to your Apple ID Account Settings after purchase.
  • Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
  • All transactions, billing, and refund requests are handled exclusively by Apple according to App Store Terms.

4. Third-Party Services and APIs

Scaena integrates with Simkl and coordinates with metadata providers (including TheTVDB) to enrich media data, recommendation feeds, and artwork. Your use of these integrations is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. Scaena is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of these third-party services.

5. User Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important. Scaena stores your Simkl credentials, preferences, and watchlist data locally on your device and via secure iCloud synchronization. We do not host or sell your personal data. For more details, please review our Privacy Policy.

6. Limitations of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scaena and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, resulting from your use of the application.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Your continued use of Scaena after any updates constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
